Karen Jensen, of Lacey, WA, passed away on March 6, 2022. She is missed and remembered by family and friends, especially for her warmth, patience and lightheartedness.
Karen was born in 1942, to Kenn and Esther Johnson, and grew up in Tacoma and Fircrest, WA. In her early years, Karen enjoyed summers at her family’s beach cabin at Dockton, Maury Island, WA, in the company of her parents and sister Nancy (Wilson) and brother, Kenn.
Karen attended Wilson High School, where she participated in choral singing and was elected prom queen, and Pacific Lutheran University, where she studied music and performed opera. Later, Karen married and moved to Lacey, WA, where she worked for many years at Bank of America. During this time, she raised her daughter, Dana, and traveled regularly to Horsehead Bay to spend time with her parents and extended family. Her arrival was always eagerly awaited by all. In addition, Karen had a special affection for her pet cat, Coco, and was known for her love of cats in general.
In her later years, Karen became acquainted with the residents of her apartment community, who miss her presence and have a special place for her in their hearts.
